BFAR in Cagayan Valley establishes own Bangus Hatchery
CLAVERIA,
Cagayan- The demand for bangus (milkfish) in the Cagayan Valley from
Dagupan, Pangasinan is expected to dramatically decrease as the Bureau
of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources established over the weekend a Municipal
Bangus Satellite Hatchery in Barangay Taggat this municipality.

Charges
filed against Taiwanese poachers
TUGUEGARAO
CITY, Cagayan – A Criminal Complaint was filed by Bureau of Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (BFAR RO2) Fisheries Resource Management
Division chief Cornelio Sebastian upon orders of BFAR Director Atty.
Malcolm I. Sarmiento, Jr. on Tuesday, April 11 against three Taiwanese
fishermen with six Filipino crew – members apprehended for alleged
illegal fishing off the coast of Baguio Point, Baggao, Cagayan last
April 7, 2006 by the Philippine Navy based at San Vicente Naval Operating
Base, San Vicente, Santa Ana, Cagayan.<more>

and Fisherfolk Month Kicks - Off in Batanes

Batanes – The DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in
collaboration with the Provincial Government of Batanes has successfully
conducted the kick – off ceremony for this year’s Farmers
and Fisherfolk month celebration graced by no less than Undersecretary
Cesar M. Drilon, Jr. and BFAR Director Malcolm I. Sarmiento held in

TFVs apprehended in Cagayan Valley
TUGUEGARAO
CITY, Cagayan – BFAR MCS Patrol Boat 3001 apprehended on May 8,
2006 two more Taiwanese fishing vessels (TFV) namely Fong Long Star
11 and World Marine 82 southeast off Disumangit Point, Palanan, Isabela,
bringing to five the total number of TFV apprehensions in region 2 in
