The Regional Fisheries Information Management Unit of the DA-BFAR 2 conducted an Online Training and Orientation for the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure System on August 19, 2024, via Zoom.

The training aimed to equip BFAR personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement secure online transactions which is a critical component of modern governance. By adopting the PNPKI system, BFAR is taking a proactive step towards improving the delivery of its services to the community without fear of data breaches or unauthorized access.

Mr. Yancee Kearvin Kyle A. Rafer, Planning Assistant from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 02, served as the resource person during the training. Known for his expertise, Mr. Rafer covered the fundamentals of the PNPKI system, including the components of Public Key Infrastructure and its benefits.

He also elaborated on the significance of Digital Certificates, Digital Signatures, and the legal foundations of eSignatures within the PNPKI framework, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of secure online transactions.

The successful conduct of this training underscores Bureau Fisheries commitment to embracing technological advancements that improve public service delivery. As the bureau continues to modernize its operations, initiatives like the PNPKI training are crucial in ensuring that these advancements are secure, reliable, and beneficial to the community. (S.
