As an annual tradition, RD Angel B. Encarnacion leads his flock in a solemn lighting ceremony to ignite the start of the festive occasion this December.
Decked in a myriad of hues and colorful decorations, the main building bursts into life as flickering lights glistens against the dark cold night, which is dubbed as the “lights of resilience”.
The lights of resilience symbolize hope, unity, and unwavering determination in the face of challenges that devastated the fisheries sector during calamities. These lights represent the strength of the human spirit and the power of collective effort in overcoming adversity. They serve as a beacon of optimism, illuminating the path toward recovery and a reminder that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of hope.
In such times of distress, the fisheries Bureau plays a vital role. It sends a message of hope by mobilizing resources and implementing programs aimed at rebuilding livelihoods, restoring ecosystems, and ensuring food security.
DA-BFAR’s initiatives on emergency assistance such as providing immediate relief such as food packs, and other interventions like awarding of fishing gear, fishing boats to affected fisherfolk.
Rehabilitation Programs like launching projects that aims to restore damaged fishing infrastructures, fish stocks and other livelihood projects and other efforts in resource conservation and management.
Installed at the center of the building, is the BELEN, which depicts the importance of family during Christmas season. In times of great challenges, the Bureau highlights the value on being “one big family” that fosters a spirit of inclusivity and shared responsibility, essential for rebuilding stronger and more resilient communities.
The agency’s efforts not only provide tangible aid but also inspire a collective will to persevere, ensuring that the lights of resilience burn brighter for generations to come.
