BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya – In a move to advance sustainable aquaculture, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2, through its Fisheries Production and Support Services Division, in partnership with the Provincial Fishery Office (PFO) of Nueva Vizcaya, successfully stocked Bangus (milkfish) fingerlings in the newly discovered Manamtam Salt Spring on January 8, 2025.
This initiative marks the beginning of a pilot project aimed at exploring the salt spring’s potential for aquaculture. The project will assess the feasibility of using the site for fish farming, as well as determine the optimal conditions for Bangus growth and survival.
Should the pilot prove successful, the program could pave the way for expanded aquaculture operations, contributing to the local economy and enhancing the livelihoods of the surrounding communities.
The event was attended by representatives from the PFO-Nueva Vizcaya, the Provincial Agricultural Office, the Office of Board Member Roland M. Carub, and members of the Timpuyog ti Babbalasang Idi Kalman, Inc. – Bambang Chapter. (KOR, PFO-Nueva Vizcaya)
