SAN MATEO, Isabela – Fisherfolk leaders from Isabela province gathered for the Provincial Fisherfolk Leaders Council Meeting to discuss pressing issues in the fisheries industry on March 7, 2025.
Appointing a representative to the Regional Fisherfolk Council, an important step for the selection of the “Regional Fisherfolk Director” for the year 2025 was one of the meeting agenda. The gathering not only facilitated the selection process but also emphasized the importance of solidarity and collaboration among fishermen in the province.
During the meeting, community leaders expressed the urgency of identifying individuals who can effectively voice the needs and aspirations of their fellow fishermen. “Your insights are crucial in selecting leaders who will advocate for our community’s welfare,” remarked Mr. Brainard Peter Liwanag, Community Development Officer II, emphasized the importance of collective input in shaping the future of the fishing sector.
The council meeting served as a platform to make their voices be heard, share their personal stories, and foster unity among members of the fishing community.
