BUGUEY, CAGAYAN — The coastal town of Buguey was ablaze with flavor, tradition, and festivity today as it hosted the 3rd Agri Fiesta at the El Presidente Beach Resort Complex in Centro. Drawing farmers, food lovers, and tourists alike, the event celebrated local agriculture, culinary excellence, and community spirit with an unforgettable lineup of activities.

Dr. Angel Encarnacion, Regional Director of DA-BFAR Region 2 together with the heads of other national government agencies and partner institutions graced the event.

One of the  biggest highlights of the day was the Grand Roasting of 130 Pigs, a spectacular culinary showcase that filled the air with the irresistible aroma of freshly roasted lechon. The feast was paired with the region’s pride dishes at the Pinakbet and Kakanin Festival, bringing together the best of Ilocano and Cagayano flavors.

Adding depth to the celebration, the local government formally launched Oplan CLEOPATRA — Crops and Livestock Enhancement to provide greater Opportunities and Programs to Accelerate Technology Transfer Research and Regulatory Services for Agriculture Stakeholders. The program aims to boost agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and empower farmers through science-based practices and regulatory support.

The event also turned up the heat with the CERRYlicious Pinakbet Cooking Contest, where talented cooks battled it out with their creative takes on the classic vegetable dish.

The 3rd Agri Fiesta once again reaffirmed Buguey’s deep-rooted commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and fisheries, preserving culinary heritage, and fostering unity among its people.
