Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- In line with its ongoing commitment to ensuring efficient and effective records management practices, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 02 (DA-BFAR 02) is conducting a Records Management Custodian Training Workshop on June 3-4, 2025, at the MIS Hall, DA-BFAR 02, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
The two-day workshop focuses on the implementation of Republic Act No. 9470, also known as the National Archives of the Philippines Act of 2007. The law mandates the systematic management, preservation, and disposal of government records to ensure transparency, accountability, and historical continuity.
Participants include designated records custodians and administrative personnel from various sections and units of DA-BFAR 02. The training aims to equip them with the necessary knowledge and tools to maintain and manage public records in compliance with national standards.
Key resource speakers for the workshop are Ms. Mary Joy A. Malvas, Chief of BFAR Central Office Records Section, together with Ms. Michelle S. Fontelar, who bring extensive expertise in records management and compliance with archival policies. Their sessions will cover vital topics including records lifecycle, classification systems, retention and disposal schedules, and modern approaches to digital archiving.
The initiative underscores DA-BFAR 02’s dedication to upholding good governance and operational efficiency through proper records management practices.
