The Employees’ Union of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 2 (DA-BFAR RO2 EU) convened its officers in a meeting to strengthen support mechanisms for members on June 24, 2025, focusing on the introduction of an optional insurance program and refining the union’s Mutual Aid Fund guidelines.
Presided over by Union President Atty. Ronaldo Libunao, the meeting tackled the offering of personal insurance coverage through the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC). The plan is open to all interested members on a voluntary basis, with premiums to be individually paid. This initiative aims to provide added financial protection beyond existing statutory benefits.
The union also revisited the provisions of its Mutual Aid Fund (MAF), with officers agreeing to clarify the qualifications of beneficiaries and provide more structured guidance on the types and extent of benefits covered. These refinements are meant to ensure consistency, fairness, and improved access for all members in times of need.
Through these initiatives, the union affirms its commitment to promoting the welfare and security of its members with proactive and inclusive measures.(B. Liwanag)
