Aparri, Cagayan – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (DA-BFAR RO2) proudly celebrated the academic success of 17 graduates under its Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) who earned their Bachelor of Science in Fisheries degrees from Cagayan State University – Aparri Campus (CSU-Aparri) for Academic Year 2024–2025.
The ceremony held during CSU-Aparri College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences’ “Panagyaman ken Pammadayaw” on June 27, 2025, at the Gymplex in Maura, Aparri, highlighted the achievements of the scholars, including one Magna Cum Laude, two Cum Laude graduates, one with Academic Distinction, and one with Merit.
Mr. Lolan Alcarion, the Magna Cum Laude awardee, received Php 30,000, while Cum Laude graduates Mr. Rodante Enriquez and Mr. Carlo Macatiag each received Php 20,000 in recognition of their exemplary academic performance. All 17 graduates were awarded with DA-BFAR 2 Scholar’s Achievement Medal.
In a message delivered by Alternate Regional FSP Coordinator Ms. Lilibeth Adriosula, Dr. Angel B. Encarnacion, Regional Director of DA-BFAR RO2, commended the scholars for their hard work and commitment to excellence.
“I thank each of you for your dedication and for believing in the mission we share. You are the living proof that the BFAR Fisheries Scholarship Program is not just an investment in education, but in the future of sustainable fisheries in our region and our country,” said RD Encarnacion.
The scholars were beneficiaries of DA-BFAR’s Fisheries Scholarship Program, which includes three components: the Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant, the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant, and the FSP for Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples.
DA-BFAR RO2 remains steadfast in its mission to support education and empower young professionals to build a resilient, innovative, and sustainable fisheries industry.
