Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya — The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (DA-BFAR 2) participated in the regional kickoff of the 51st Nutrition Month celebration, spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC), on July 1, 2025, at the Municipal Gymnasium in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya. This year’s theme is “Food and Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”
Regional Director Angel B. Encarnacion affirmed DA-BFAR 2’s strong support for the NNC’s advocacy—not only throughout the monthlong celebration but as part of the bureau’s long-term mission to promote food and nutrition security. He highlighted DA-BFAR’s commitment to ensuring the sustainable production and availability of safe, high-quality fish and fishery products across the region.
“We urge all stakeholders to prioritize food and nutrition security,” RD Encarnacion said. “Access to adequate, nutritious food is a fundamental human right.”
As part of its advocacy, the bureau promotes its flagship campaign—FISH (Fish Intake Starts at Home) — which encourages Filipino families to incorporate fish into their regular meals as part of a fresh, healthy, and affordable diet.
The event also featured expressions of support from various member agencies, all reaffirming their commitment to the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2023–2028, which aims to build a food- and nutrition-secure nation.
