Basco, Batanes — The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (DA-BFAR 2) proudly congratulates Miguel Mariano Acebes, Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) Chair of the Municipality of Basco, for his recent appointment as Chairperson of the Integrated Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (IFARMC) for the Province of Batanes.

His appointment was held during the 2nd Quarter IFARMC Meeting attended by key fisheries stakeholders and representatives from various local government units in the province. Mr. Acebes’ leadership and commitment to sustainable fisheries management have earned him the trust and confidence of his fellow council members.

As the newly elected IFARMC Chairperson, Mr. Acebes is expected to lead the province-wide initiatives in conserving and managing aquatic resources, strengthening community-based fisheries governance, and ensuring the active participation of fisherfolk in decision-making processes.

DA-BFAR 2 expresses its full support and confidence in his leadership as Batanes continues to work toward sustainable and inclusive fisheries development.
