TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 (DA-BFAR RO2) participated in the Opening Program of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program Summit 2025, which officially commenced today, October 13, 2025, at the Hotel Casiana & Events Center, Nasugbu Highway.

With the theme “Building Bridges through ALIGNment, CONNECTion, and SYNChronization for Agri-Aqua Innovation”, the said summit aims to bring together implementers, innovators, and partner institutions of the RAISE program, including the DA-BFAR RO2, to accelerate innovation in the sectors of fisheries and agriculture.

Representing DA-BFAR RO2 are Regional Director Angel B. Encarnacion and Dr. Emma L. Ballad, Project Leader of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management Office, together with other RAISE Program representatives and partner nationwide.

The summit serves as an important platform to showcase the agency’s activities in advancing fisheries technologies and intellectual properties. It also provides an opportunity to align its R&D activities with national activities that promote innovation and sustainability in the agri-fisheries sector.

Meanwhile, RD Encarnacion took part in the Ceremonial Signing of the Wall of Commitment, symbolizing the agency’s pledge to promote advancement and strengthen partnerships that drive the modernization and development of the fisheries industry.

The event was graced by Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director of DOST-PCAARRD, together with key officials, as well as heads from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), government agencies, and partners from the private sector. Meanwhile, Hon. Paulo Benigno A. Aquino and Hon. Francis Pangilinan, Senators of the Philippines, delivered messages of support virtually.

The said summit, which will run until October 16, 2025, will also feature discussions, exhibits, and networking activities which will strengthen linkages for agri-aqua innovation across the country. (Sophia Gudao, IPTBMO)
