The DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Region 2 plays a vital role in the region’s development and maintenance of aquaculture broodstock. This is to ensure the sustainable supply of fingerlings and fry for aquaculture, which is a key driver of food security and economic growth in the community. Moreover, fingerlings and other seed stock production and distribution program plays a crucial role in supporting the aquaculture industry not only in the region but also in the whole country.
This program focuses on ensuring a steady supply of high-quality fingerlings and seeds to fish farmers, contributing to increased fish production and food security in the region. The bureau distributes fingerlings/seed stocks like Tilapia, Milkfish, Carp, Siganids and Freshwater Prawn. The office also distributes oyster spats and seaweeds propagules.
