#nationalbamboomonth-DA-BFAR 2 Regional Director Angel B. Encarnacion and staff joined the inter-agency bamboo planting activity in support to the observance of the Philippine Bamboo Month and World Bamboo Day with the nationwide simultaneous Bamboo Planting held at the DENR -Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Lannig, Solana, Cagayan.

Anchored on the theme:”Industriyang Kawayan para sa paglago ng Ekonomiya at Kalikasan”, said activity was created thru Proclamation No. 1401 declaring every September as bamboo awareness month signed by then President Rodrigo Duterte.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry headed by Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo and Co-chaired by Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources the bamboo planting activity aims to raise awareness on the importance of bamboo as a material on the production of various goods especially in construction business.

Key officials from the regional line agencies encouraged the citizenry to promote the programs and activities aligned to the government’s advocacy. Likewise, they emphasized the ecological importance of this emerging “green gold” as mitigating measure to combat against the threats of climate change.

The Bureau is regularly conducting tree planting activities using bamboo as planting material along inland water resources as a component of its restoration program Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa and even joins other agencies, local government units and other similar initiatives towards environmental protection and conservation efforts. #
