The establishment of the Technology-demonstration project on Tilapia pond grow-out culture in suitable production sites is one of the Bureau’s livelihood assistance programs not only as a strategy to boost fish production in the region but as a means to generate jobs among fisherfolk.

Mr. Simon Bucahan, a farmer who once failed in his previous ventures in fish farming, is one of the recipients of techno-demo projects in the landlocked province of Quirino provided by the Bureau.

The Bureau’s key implementing division, the Fisheries Production and Support Services division headed by Atty. Ronaldo R. Libunao witnessed the promising result of the said aquaculture project. The project yielded an average of 250 grams a piece or 3-4 pieces a kilo of marketable-sized tilapia, which indicates good fish farming practices.

“Insardeng ku idi iti nagtaraken gapu ta naawanak ti namnama gapu iti pannakalugik, madik met laeng ipagarup nga mapili ti DA-BFAR daytuy site ko kas Techno-demo site para iti panagtaraken iti Tilapia. Agyamanak iti ahensya iti panangpasublida ti namnama iti pusok”, (I already stopped from culturing Tilapia because of my unfortunate experience in the past, I went broke from my previous ventures. I wasn’t expecting that, DA-BFAR chose my farm as techno-demo site of which I am grateful for giving me hope to succeed). (With reports from Jessi mie Tac-an, PFO-Quirino)
