TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – In an effort to capacitate extension workers on infographics as means to communicate significant fisheries data to its clientele, the Bureau through the initiatives of the Fisheries Production and Support Services Division and FAD-Human Resource Development Unit conducted a two-day “Training Course on Basic Adobe Photoshop and Infographics Layouting” on October 18-19, 2022 held at the MIS Hall, DA-BFAR Regional Office.

Regional Director of DA-BFAR 2 Angel Encarnacion, in his message urged participants to take advantage of the Bureau’s capacity-building program in upgrading   its human capital to become more effective in the delivery of fisheries services to the fisherfolk.

Further, he emphasized that fisheries data presented through infographics instead of text heavy contents will aid the management to expedite the decision and policy-making processes to address urgent and pressing issues in the fisheries sector.

Meanwhile, Atty. Ronaldo Libunao, Chief of the Fisheries Production and Support Services Division encouraged extension workers to put their acquired new knowledge   into good use in data presentation and convey vital fisheries information in a more visually appealing and contents that are easily understood by the fisherfolk.

Mr. Angelito Catolos, multi-media specialist from the Cagayan Provincial Information Office served as resource person during the two-day hands-on workshop which was participated by representatives from divisions and sections of the agency.

To date, infographics are now widely used in communication as a powerful tool to allow people easily digest information through the use of visual data, charts and statistics. With the proper use of color, proportion, negative space, information can be transformed into memorable, attention-grabbing and even persuasive graphics. #
