TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Fisheries Bureau here, spearheaded the conduct of “Orientation on the Integration of Gender and Development Proposal Preparation and Planning” as part of the culminating activities in the celebration of Women’s Month, organized by GAD Focal Person Dr. Evelyn C. Ame, thru the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division today, March 30, 2023.

Regional Director Angel B. Encarnacion, in his message, emphasized that gender and development are not just about women but instead, “Men and women are equal in worth and in opportunity” as manifested in this year’s theme: “𝙒𝙀 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮”.

Said activity aims to train project leaders in the preparation of gender-sensitive and gender-responsive project proposals designed to include strategies in addressing GAD issues and concerns.

The orientation graced by Mr. Mac Paul V. Alariao, GAD Expert and resource speaker focused on the Basic Concepts of GAD, Gender Mainstreaming in the implementation and execution of GAD-related programs; and various elements of Gender-responsive project designs.

A workshop was followed wherein participants were asked to critique a sample proposal using the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) point systems.

The culminating activities started with a Zumba session early morning to remind employees of the importance of being physically fit and healthy will keep everyone productive in their respective work assignments.

Meantime, DA-BFAR 2 workforce headed by RD Encarnacion himself, indulged in a pampering session where haircuts, pedicures and manicures, and back massages were offered for free as one way of showing appreciation to the staff for being the Bureau’s partner in ‘Creativity, In productivity In and innovation”. ###
